NMAT - Introduction

NMAT 2019 is an important national level MBA entrance test leading to MBA admission 2020 in top MBA colleges like NMIMS Mumbai, SPJIMR Mumbai (PGMPW), ISB (Certificate programme), VIT Vellore, XIM Bhubaneswar and many other MBA colleges in India. NMAT exam will be held as a computer-based test from October 4 to December 17, 2019 with facility to self-schedule, retake the exam for two more times, reschedule the exam if not ready to appear in the exam. Entering into its fifth year, NMAT by GMAC has opened doors for candidates to apply to global schools in India, Philippines, South Africa and Nigeria also.

  • The applicants should be graduates in any discipline from a recognized university with a minimum of 50 per cent marks in aggregate.
  • Candidates who are appearing for the final examination of their Bachelor's degree are also eligible to apply. Provisional admission will be given to students on a condition to pass their final examination of Bachelor's degree in the first attempt and in the stipulated duration with 50 per cent aggregate marks.
  • For all the Full-Time programmes, candidates having two and more years of post-qualification work experience will be preferred.

Paper Pattern:

  • The exam is conducted during a 75-day long window. Hence, candidates have the flexibility to schedule and take the exam anytime as per their convenience and availability.
  • Option to re-scheduling NMAT exam date, time and centre.
  • Candidates are allowed upto three attempts - one original attempt and two retakes (including no shows). The highest score amongst the three will be considered
  • The NMAT Exam Pattern also prescribes that all the three sections in NMAT exam are individually timed. Besides there is no negative marking in NMAT by GMAC exam pattern.

Registration and Payment

  1. Create an account on using a valid email address.
  2. Provide contact information, personal, educational and work experience, the list of programmes to send scores, and the ID that you will use at the test centre. Indicate your interest in participating in a search service and agree to the terms and conditions.
  3. Your name and date of birth that you enter on the registration form must exactly match the name and date of birth on your Photo and Signature ID.
  4. Choose the schools to send your scores under the "Schools Preference" section. Up to 5 programmes are included in your registration fee. An additional fee of INR 200 + applicable taxes will be applied for each programme added in excess of 5 programs.
  5. You must upload a photograph that bears likeness to you and the photograph on your Photo ID. This photograph will be included on the admit card that you must bring.
  6. Pay the test fee.
  7. Once your payment is realized, your schedule exam option will be activated in your dashboard, so that you can go ahead and schedule your exam.
  8. You will be able to download your admit card from your dashboard once the payment is realized


You will be allowed to take the NMAT by GMACâ„¢ exam a maximum of three times during the year's testing period. This includes the first attempt plus a maximum of two retake attempts. No shows are considered attempts. Your retake registration option will be enabled in your dashboard after your exam date. You need to register for the retake by simply clicking on the Retake section and pay.

Exam cities:

The exam centres of NMAT 2019 are likely to be spread in 58 test centres across 44 cities in India and at 4 International centres.

Candidates must check all the options before selecting and finalising their NMAT 2019 exam centre which would be most convenient for them. However, they can request to change the NMAT exam centre by visiting the NMAT by GMAC registration system.

There will be an additional fee payable by credit card only to change the NMAT test centre. After the test taker has received a confirmation e-mail from Pearson VUE, they will be able to select a new test centre as per their convenience.

The NMAT 2018 exam centre is mentioned on the admit card, which can be downloaded online after completing the NMAT registration process.

Accessing your results

Your NMAT by GMACâ„¢ exam scores will be published on the website approximately 4-5 weeks after your exam date. Once the scores have been published you will receive an email indicating that your scores are available. You will be able to access your score card by logging into your NMAT by GMACâ„¢ account. Once the final percentile score is announced, your scores will be sent to the schools that you elected to share you scores. What is included on your score report? Your Final score card will include a scaled score for each section, a total score as well as a percentile ranking.
