NMAT - Introduction

  • NMAT is the abbreviated form for Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) Management Aptitude Test. The exam was acquired by Graduate Management Admission Council in 2015 and therefore, the NMAT has been renamed as NMAT by GMAC.
  • The NMAT by GMAC exam opens doors to the leading management programmes in India. Brought to you by the organization that owns the GMAT exam, the NMAT by GMAC enables schools to recruit top talent with the comfort that the test measures the skills needed to succeed in their programmes. It gives candidates the confidence to perform their best. The NMAT by GMAC exam is used for admissions to some of the leading graduate business programmes in India.


  • The applicants should be graduates in any discipline from a recognized university with a minimum of 50 per cent marks in aggregate.
  • Candidates who are appearing for the final examination of their Bachelor's degree are also eligible to apply. Provisional admission will be given to students on a condition to pass their final examination of Bachelor's degree in the first attempt and in the stipulated duration with 50 per cent aggregate marks.
  • For all the Full-Time programmes, candidates having two and more years of post-qualification work experience will be preferred.

Paper Pattern:

  • The exam is conducted during a 75-day long window. Hence, candidates have the flexibility to schedule and take the exam anytime as per their convenience and availability.
  • Option to re-scheduling NMAT exam date, time and centre.
  • Candidates are allowed upto three attempts - one original attempt and two retakes (including no shows). The highest score amongst the three will be considered
  • The NMAT Exam Pattern also prescribes that all the three sections in NMAT exam are individually timed. Besides there is no negative marking in NMAT by GMAC exam pattern.

Exam cities:

The exam centres of NMAT 2018 are likely to be spread in 58 test centres across 44 cities in India and at 4 International centres.

Candidates must check all the options before selecting and finalising their NMAT 2018 exam centre which would be most convenient for them. However, they can request to change the NMAT exam centre by visiting the NMAT by GMAC registration system.

There will be an additional fee payable by credit card only to change the NMAT test centre. After the test taker has received a confirmation e-mail from Pearson VUE, they will be able to select a new test centre as per their convenience.

The NMAT 2018 exam centre is mentioned on the admit card, which can be downloaded online after completing the NMAT registration process.
